About

This tool has been developed by the Office of Community Safety and Cohesion, NSW Department of Communities and Justice, with assistance from Dr George Argyrous. It was funded by the Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs and draws extensively on the Countering Violent Extremism Indicators Document developed by Professor Adrian Cherney, Dr Jennifer Bell, Ellen Leslie, Lorraine Cherney and Professor Lorraine Mazerolle at the University of Queensland.

Evaluation of CVE programs is important to ensure accountability and enhance the effectiveness of any future initiatives. However, there is currently limited evidence about what works in CVE. The aim of this tool is to share learnings about effective CVE programs and ways to evaluate them, both nationally and internationally. We encourage governments and practitioners to contribute to this evidence base by making their evaluations available through this tool.

The tool aligns with the National Evaluation Guide for Countering Violent Extremism Project Planners, the NSW Countering Violent Extremism Evaluation Approach, and the NSW Counter Terrorism Strategy.
